Esko Kongsberg X-series was launched with great success at the Drupa fair in Düsseldorf

Many new deals for Esko’s high quality, industrial cutting tables have been closed at the most important fair for the print and media industry. Again Esko has confirmed its leading position in digital finishing solutions for the signage, display and packaging industry.

After we had defined a new visual product identity by redesigning the Kongsberg C-series in 2014, Hareide Design was again approached by Esko to design the Kongsberg X-series. This time the challenge was to differentiate the more economical Kongsberg X-series from of the premium Kongsberg C, without undermining the high performance of these machines.

The new X-line uses the same colour palette and colour hierarchy as the C-line, but as a result of a subtler use of characteristic design elements, the design has become more modest than Esko`s high-end series.

Furthermore the project had a strong focus on usability. Esko’s cutting machines are highly versatile and can thus be perceived as complex to operate. Through field studies we gained the necessary knowledge for optimizing the user interfaces.

From the first concept sketches until the final production drawings we worked closely together with Esko’s engineers and manufacturers. An efficient and effective design process was indispensable in order to reach the launch at Drupa 2016 fair.
